April 22, 2010:
The green, the white, the hip, the hop
The Herald-Dispatch - Dave Lavender

While 304-heavyweight hip-hopper, 6'6" 240 has gotten the Motown faithful all
jacked up with such hip hop anthems as "The Blue and the Gold," and "Welcome
to Huggstown," H-town has been sorely lacking in a green-and-white fueled
homegrown rap song that waves the colors.

No mas. Enter The Doulton Gang, made up of Marshall University student Tevin
Courts (Mr. Gold) and Rob Johnson (a.k.a. R.O.B.)

The local boys have come up with a new anthem song, "U Herd," that made its
debut Wednesday, April 21, all over the Internet.

Powered up with the Web hustle and muscle of Shawn Fitzpatrick (Grafitz), and
recorded at Victor T. Collin's studio, they've got the song up all over the net from
iTunes to their website at www.thedoultongang.com.

Fitzpatrick said they'll be passing out some 20,000 football schedules backed with
info all about "U Herd," hoping to get a little on-campus grassroots movement
going to get the song played in Joan C. Edwards Football Stadium as a football
anthem.
Dave Lavender writes about music for The Herald-Dispatch.

Press Release Tevin Courts a.k.a. Mr. Gold and Robert Johnson a.k.a. R.O.B. are
the forces behind the Doulton Gang, a hip-hop duo born and raised in Huntington,
West Virginia. Both R.O.B. and Mr. Gold grew up on Doulton Avenue and were
instilled with an appreciation of music as well as a strong grasp of the power of
words. The two met as kids on Doulton Avenue but started making music together
in 2004 under the production of Victor T. Collins, another resident of Doulton
Avenue and seasoned musician.  The Gang recorded a little heard but highly
respected 22-song demo in 2004, but before production could begin on the debut
project, unforeseen circumstances forced the group apart. After a hiatus as a
group, the Doulton Gang reunited in early 2009 and quickly returned to the studio.
As stronger and focused musicians, the Gang recorded a debut single and
anthem for Huntington’s local university, Marshall University, titled “U Herd.” R.O.B
said “Marshall is a fixture in the mind of anyone from or even visiting Huntington.
We wanted to provide motivation and spirit to campus as well as establish
ourselves as a 'Marshall-like' fixture in the music scene.  When people think
Huntington hip hop, we want them to think The Doulton Gang.”  Currently, The
Doulton Gang is building a yet to be titled full length debut album on VTP Records.
Mr. Gold said "Quality, consistency, and content are the three pillars of anything
coming from this camp. We offer nothing less. You can't deny quality product.”
With a team of this caliber, big things are definitely in store for Mr. Gold and R.O.B.
Keep your ears and eyes open for The Doulton Gang.
